Heartless Bastards announce Riot Room stop in September

Locals who missed the Heartless Bastards’ show at Lawrence’s Granada Theater on May 29 will get another chance to see the rootsy Cincinnati rock band late this summer.

The Bastards recently tacked on eight additional September dates to their summer tour, including a stop in Kansas City for a show at the Riot Room on Sept. 12. Tickets for the additional shows went on sale Saturday.

Led by the powerful vocals of Erika Wennerstrom, Heartless Bastards were formed in 2003 and released their first album, the hard-hitting, garage-y Stairs and Elevators, in 2005. Wennerstrom is the only member who’s stayed in the band throughout its existence, although original drummer Dave Colvin is now back in the fold. Heartless Bastards’ latest record, Arrow, was released in February, and its folk-influenced blues-rock sound has earned the band plenty of well-placed acclaim.
